Golds in Decor
Golds and brass tones have to be among the easier design elements that anyone can utilise in a space. Why? Because these precious metals have been there for centuries on end and have been used in history to signify wealth and riches. In modern times, you need not have gold bars in your home, however you can use a variety of design elements to create a vision and ambiance of royalty and wealth. In this article , i will show you how best this can be achieved in modern day interior decor.
Accessories: The most simplistic way to introduce gold in your space. Cushions, vases, wallpaper, curtains, draping and ornaments. Start small and build it up as you go. You do however, need to ensure that the background colour is the correct one. Walls and floors must/should be ideally white, black,a combination of black and white, creams or even a very light shade of grey. These colours feed extremely well with golds.
Mirrors: Now i know i could have put this up as past of accessories, however i left them out intentionally and with good reason Mirrors in a gold theme can be manipulated to make them the star of the theme. The major focus point in your gold theme. The image below ill illustrate this better. the same background rule applies.
Shop around for a major sized gold mirror, that steals the show or alternatively, smaller and different sized shapes of mirrors to form part of a mirror wall. Now you cant tell me that this is not simply genius..
Dark or Light Rooms?" : Now this is one of those themes that fits well into dark and well lit spaces. You need not worry about the effect. My only advice here is this, if it is a lit up room choose lighter background colours (whites and creams for walls and floors, perhaps even light wooden floors.) if it is a dark room(stick with the (black and greys for your walls and floors).
