Nature vs Interior Style

One of the most creative ways of developing an interior style that is unique is by taking advantage of your natural surroundings. Look around you, take a walk in the garden. What do you see? Lush trees/thorny bushes/dry fauna/rolling lawns/flowers/rocks. All these have a strong bearing on how best to create harmony to your space. Your interior style need not exist in isolation. Tie it all in. Illustrations below:

Vegetation Inspired

Certain types of vegetation have a way of positively influencing design. What this does is simple, really. It adds to the aesthetic of your design. When the inside has a similar theme to the outside it makes it aesthetically pleasing. Take for instance, if you have lush green lawns and beautiful hydrangeas in your garden-this is a natural scream for a country style/traditional farmhouse style of interior design. If your surroundings are more dry grass and thorny trees, take advantage of the different textured furniture you could use and colors that naturally encourage the brown background to shine. Hey, if you live in the concrete jungle and you cant see much of vegetation but have buildings surrounding you, experiment with sharp, straight architectural lines in your interior. A more modern contemporary look would be befitting.

Geology Inspired

Rocks and stones create a great foundation for interior design. Bring that theme into your space as well. Add textures to your floors, give that fireplace a face lift and add stone features around it, add rock features to your swimming pool and water features. And then to balance it all our , bring some calmness to it all by adding a calm colour to your space. How about creams, blues to give a strong contrast? Experiment, play round.

I hope this article has your mind racing and feet pacing up and down in your garden.
